
International Mother Language Day – 21.02.2024
Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya College of Education (Autonomous) commemorated International Mother Language Day on 21.02.2024 aimed to celebrate the significance of the mother language, highlighting its importance in shaping individual identity, fostering cultural understanding, and preserving linguistic diversity. The programme took place in the College Seminar Hall from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., bringing together the Principal, Faculty members, Student- teachers and distinguished guest.
Dr. R. Gokul, Assistant Professor from the Department of Tamil, Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya College of Arts and Science (Autonomous) Coimbatore, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and delivered a special address on the profound importance of mother languages especially the Classical Language Tamil. He has illuminated the intrinsic connection between language, identity, and culture, and also emphasized the role of reading books in nurturing language skills that foster a deeper appreciation for one’s mother tongue.
The Student-teachers have engaged actively in delivering verses and speech, and also conducted a quiz on Classical Language Tamil. Through their eloquent presentations, they shed light on the rich historical and cultural significance of the Tamil Language, and emphasized its enduring relevance in arts and literature. The celebration of International Mother Language Day provided an opportunity for all the participants to cherish and honour the mother language.
