About SWARAM

Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya organises various cultural competitions under the banner of SWARAM, using drama as a creative medium to depict the life histories of freedom fighters, historic Tamil kings, the lives and messages of saints, human values and folk traditions.

Every year, around 10 colleges from across Tamil Nadu participate in the SWARAM drama competitions. These competitions provide college students with valuable opportunities to develop their creative, theatrical, communication and teamwork skills, while creating awareness among the public about India's rich cultural heritage, history and values.

SWARAM 2026

Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya, Coimbatore, organised SWARAM 2026 – State-Level Intercollegiate Drama Competition on 19 September 2026. Based on the timeless epic Ramayana, the competition provided a vibrant platform for college students to explore Indian heritage, values, creativity and theatrical expression.

A total of 177 students and 14 teachers from 10 colleges from different parts of Tamil Nadu participated in the event. The participating teams presented inspiring dramatic portrayals of significant episodes from the Ramayana, bringing its timeless characters, values and messages to life through their performances.

Participation

The event brought together 177 students and 14 teachers representing 10 colleges from different parts of Tamil Nadu. The enthusiastic participation reflected the growing interest among college students in theatre, cultural heritage and value-based artistic expression.

The participating teams presented carefully prepared dramatic performances depicting selected episodes from the Ramayana. Each presentation demonstrated the participants' acting ability, creativity, stage presence, coordination, teamwork and understanding of the cultural and ethical dimensions of the epic.

The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation and showcased the students' acting skills, creativity, teamwork, stage presence and cultural understanding. Each performance offered a distinctive interpretation of the selected episode while highlighting the enduring values embedded in the Ramayana.

The performances demonstrated how theatre can serve as an effective medium for communicating cultural heritage, ethical values and meaningful messages to younger generations and the wider public.

🏅 Prize Distribution

The winners were honoured with Cash Awards, Trophies and Certificates in recognition of their performances.

The prizes were distributed by Swami Garishthananda Maharaj, Swami Tadbhasananda Maharaj, Swami Narayanananda Maharaj and Swami Trilokathmananda Maharaj. Their presence added significance to the occasion and encouraged the participating students to continue developing their creative talents and contributing to society through meaningful artistic expression.

Celebrating Heritage Through Theatre

SWARAM 2026 served not only as a platform for artistic expression but also as an opportunity to connect the younger generation with India's rich cultural heritage. By presenting episodes from the Ramayana through drama, the participating students explored themes of devotion, duty, courage, sacrifice, righteousness and human values.

The event successfully brought together students and faculty members from different institutions in a spirit of creativity, cultural appreciation, collaboration and healthy competition.
