
Inter Vidyalaya Maths Olympiad

Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya College of Education, Coimbatore, conducted the Inter Vidyalaya Maths Olympiad (IVMO) 2024 on 24th December 2024 as part of its celebrations for National Mathematics Day. The event honored the birth anniversary of the legendary mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan, whose contributions to the field of mathematics continue to inspire generations. This prestigious competition was exclusively organized for Grade VIII students from four Vidyalaya schools, aiming to instill a love for mathematics and promote analytical and problem-solving skills among young learners.
The primary objectives of the Olympiad included assessing mathematical aptitude, enhancing logical reasoning and critical thinking, and familiarizing students with competitive exam formats like NMMS, NTSE, IMO, and foundation-level JEE. The competition also aimed to bridge mathematical concepts with real-life applications, motivating students to view mathematics as a practical and enjoyable subject.
The Olympiad followed an offline mode, with participants answering questions on OMR sheets. Students were instructed to arrive at the exam center by 1:45 PM. After the distribution of question papers and OMR sheets at 1:55 PM, the competition commenced at 2:00 PM and concluded at 4:00 PM. The event was meticulously planned to ensure a smooth and enriching experience for all participants.
To encourage excellence, cash prizes were awarded to the top five scorers. The first prize winner received ₹3000, while the second, third, fourth, and fifth prizes were ₹2500, ₹2000, ₹1500, and ₹1000, respectively. The results and prize distribution ceremony were held on 26th December 2024 at 09:30 AM in the GKD Auditorium. This grand event celebrated the achievements of the young mathematicians, recognizing their hard work and dedication.
The Olympiad not only provided a platform for students to showcase their talents but also inspired them to pursue mathematics with curiosity and passion. The event successfully fulfilled its goal of fostering out-of-the-box thinking among students and igniting their interest in the subject. It was a proud moment for Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya to contribute to the intellectual and academic growth of its students while upholding the legacy of Srinivasa Ramanujan.
