Cyber Crime Club
On the 5th of August 2024, Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya College of Education organized a significant event—the inauguration of the Cyber Crime Club, followed by an awareness programme on cyber crimes and threats. The event, aimed at equipping future educators with knowledge and awareness of the cyber threats prevalent in today’s digital age, witnessed enthusiastic participation from B.Ed. and M.Ed. students, along with all staff members of the college.
The programme commenced with a warm welcome to the Chief Guest, Mr. Anand, Sub Inspector from the Cyber Crime Wing of the Coimbatore Commissioner Office, Tamil Nadu Police Department. In his inaugural address, Mr. Anand emphasized the importance of cyber security in the current educational environment. He elaborated on the objectives of the Cyber Crime Club, stressing how such initiatives are crucial in fostering a safe and secure digital space for educators and students alike.
Following the inauguration, Mr. Yuvaraj, Sub Inspector, delivered an insightful awareness session on current cyber crimes and the various threats that individuals, especially students and educators, face today. His presentation covered a wide range of topics, including phishing scams, identity theft, online fraud, and the importance of digital literacy in combating these threats. The session was interactive, with students and staff engaging in discussions, sharing their experiences, and clarifying their doubts.
The programme highlighted the growing need for awareness and education regarding cyber security in the academic field. Mr. Yuvaraj’s detailed explanations and real-life examples provided valuable insights into the complexities of cyber crimes and underscored the importance of staying vigilant and informed in the digital world.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks, where the organizers expressed their gratitude to the Chief Guest, Mr. Anand, and the speaker, Mr. Yuvaraj, for their invaluable contributions.
